String Section Sets Up In Public Square, Stops Crowds With 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' Flash Mob
  • It was a beautiful day in the streets of Vietnam.

The sun was shining, the weather was fair and people were going about their daily business. Some of them are enjoying the scenery of the park, others are at the cafe sipping some coffee, others are inside the boutiques shopping, and others are just simply passing by.

Before long, something unusual happened. After a moment, a band of musicians slowly gathered in the circle to surprise passersby with an outstanding performance.

At first, they blended in the crowd and looked like a bunch of strangers.

A woman wearing a white gown walks around, checking her watch from time to time. The violin players can be seen inside a cafe, while some of the wind instruments are inside the shops. In addition to that, their maestro has a perfect disguise looking like a normal citizen eating in the streets. After everyone is in place, the DJ comes over to play.

Because it all happened without warning, no one expected such a grandiose event to happen. Gradually, musicians started appearing in the square one by one. The crowd gets more and more curious, anxiously waiting to see what would happen next.

After that, the full orchestra starts to play and the wind instruments and percussion joins in shortly after, turning the entire scene into a flash mob!

The group arranges the first part to make it sound as suspenseful as possible. Before long, it rises to an epic refrain before dropping back into the beginning for even more impact. Lastly, a short violin solo can be heard before the grand finale. People listened intently to the music while some even filmed it on their phones! Without a doubt, everyone enjoyed the flash mob and gave a huge round of applause after the group bowed to bid their goodbyes.

The group put so much into the performance that it sounded like they were trying to summon Jack Sparrow along with the rest of the movie’s cast!

The whole surprise was put together by the Vietnamese street orchestra, Rhapsody Philharmonic.

Although the reaction was great in person, YouTube commenters like user Anne Williamson were also in awe of the surprise performance:

“This always gives me goosebumps! Absolutely love it, I’ve watched it over and over, love it. Well done to all the musicians.”

This talented group of musicians were born in Hanoi and trained in symphony music as children at the Vietnam National Music Academy. Today, they play contemporary music including soundtracks of famous movies, games and even pop music from artists like Eminem and Rihanna. In all, they perform to remove prejudices about symphonic music and to promote Hanoi culture to a wider audience.
