Some People Are Having Terrible Reactions To Popular Face Mask - So It's Being Taken Off The Shelves
  • Imagine going through your normal skincare routine, but instead of silky smooth skin, you look in the mirror and see what looks like a red splotchy sunburn. Unfortunately for anyone who received a ‘Yes To’ Grapefruit Charcoal Face Mask in their stocking this year, that was their reality.

One of the first instances of the burn was from Kimberly Francis who gifted the mask to her 11-year-old stepdaughter.

Her stepdaughter immediately ran to her parents after trying the mask saying it felt like it was burning her face. “We had her take it off and her face was already clearly burned.” said Francis. They tried washing her face and applying lidocaine, but nothing was removing the deep redness from her skin. They were even tempted to leave the mask on since the packaging claimed that “if it’s tingling, it’s working”.

But this wasn’t the only claim that there was something seriously wrong with this product. Other customers started complaining that the mask was leaving a burn in the exact shape of the mask on their face. “She put it on for 15 minutes, and when she took it off, her face looked like it was sunburned and was very itchy said Donna Baines of New Jersey. Similar to Francis, her daughter got the same face mask as a git for Christmas.

“Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow Boosting Unicorn Mask” was the name of the product that produced so many complaints. Now, Yes To, is pulling all the masks that are the cause of so many reactions and issued a statement with an apology. With a name like Unicorn Mask, a lot of parents assumed that the product was marketed to kids and with all the reports of reactions it was cause for concern, but there were adults that complained of a similar reaction.

Kayley Pate of Oklahoma tried the mask and reported that the mask immediately started burning as soon as she put it on, and once it was off, her face was bright red, painful, and hot to the touch.

Not only did people complain on Yes To’s website, but on the websites of other large retailers as well. Reviewers took to chains like Target and Ulta, where the mask was also sold, to spread the word that this was causing a serious rash. Target even went as far as to remove the product from their shelves before the recall.

But the complaints didn’t stop there. Customers started complaining about other products, like Yes To’s cucumber under-eye masks and coconut face mask. A lot of customers were confused because they used Yes To products in the past without issue or never had a history of sensitive skin. “It’s scary when you think you can trust a product from past use and then something like this happens.”

Customers reactions did clear up, but that isn’t stopping them from spreading awareness about the problems they have seen with Yes To. Hopefully, all the reports and stories get the company’s attention to take more action on all the negative effects their products are causing.
