As we get older, maintaining a regular skincare routine becomes increasingly important. Although you may not immediately notice skin damage, there are aging processes occurring as we speak. To avoid the discoloration and deep wrinkles that come with aging, a preventative skincare routine is key!Video Screenshot Source: Video Screenshot
Now, while most of us know how important skincare can be, it’s easy to be put off by the insane prices.
For higher-end items, it’s not rare to spend hundreds of dollars for a tiny amount of product. But that’s why we’re bringing you a solution courtesy of Kathryn C., a reader of Clark.com.Google Screenshot Source: Google Screenshot
Kathryn teaches money management classes to struggling women. When she discovered just how much dough skincare and beauty were eating out of their budgets, she came up with some cheaper alternatives.
Kathryn has developed a recipe to imitate the popular Lancôme anti-aging serums— which sell for about $78 per ounce.

“I’m on my second bottle, about halfway through, and I started last November 25, so I’d say, depending on how much Lancôme I would have used, [I’ve saved] probably about $100,” she reveals.
Anti-Aging Vitamin C Facial Serum Recipe
Vitamin C is great when it comes to skincare. On top of brightening the skin, vitamin C has been shown to boost collagen production, resulting in firmer, plumper skin. The plumping also helps to smooth over deep wrinkles and fine lines.
- 1/4 tsp. vitamin C cosmetics grade powder
- 4 tsp. purified or distilled water
- 2 tsp. aloe vera gel
Because vitamin C degrades in light, simply combine the ingredients and store it in a light-blocking amber (or cobalt blue) eyedropper bottle. Spread on your face after washing in the morning and the night.Vegan Way Cool Store Source: Vegan Way Cool Store
Anti-Aging Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum Recipe
Hyaluronic Acid is another ingredient often touted for its anti-aging abilities. When used in combination with other moisturizing ingredients, it helps the skin retain its moisture. Like vitamin C, it also promotes collagen production which smoothes the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
- 1/2 cup purified or distilled water
- 1/2 tsp. hyaluronic acid
To make this serum, simply combine the two ingredients and stir until the hyaluronic acid dissolved. Allow the serum to sit in the refrigerator overnight where it will thicken into a gel-like substance. Then place the serum into a light-blocking amber (or cobalt blue) eyedropper bottle.Oranic Beauty Recipes Source: Oranic Beauty Recipes
Spread on face after washing in the morning and at night.
To get the most benefits, Kathryn uses a mixture of both recipes.
She combines a half batch of hyaluronic serum with a full bottle of the vitamin C serum.
“I do believe [the serums] make a noticeable difference,” she says.
“Most people find it unbelievable that I’m on the cusp of 70, so it must be doing some good!”
Kathryn does acknowledge that the Lancôme serums also use an anti-aging ingredient called retinol, which she hasn’t been able to find thus far. “When I do, I’ll be adding it to my solution,” she assures us.Style Craze Source: Style Craze
