Disabled Vet With Twins Compelled To Help Single Mom Of Triplets When She Hears “Urgency In Her Voice”
  • Times are tough for a lot of people these days. Many worry they’ll get sick in the pandemic. But others are more concerned about money and making ends meet during this difficult period. Since so many individuals have lost their jobs, they have to figure out how to just put food on the table.

Even if you’re not worried about the same struggles, it’s difficult to hear these stories. But some people want to go above and beyond to do something to help those who’ve found themselves in hard times. These individuals are everyday heroes.

    A veteran mom

    Hearing another woman’s story

One day, Angela heard a story about a woman named Sylvia Mangsen. Having been furloughed at the start of the pandemic, she wasn’t making any income. To make matters worse, there was a hitch with her unemployment benefits. So, she couldn’t get her money right away.

    Facing serious trouble

Not only was Sylvia running out of money, but she had something bigger than herself to think about…her three kids. You see, Sylvia is a mom of triplets. Her children are all teenagers and it’s her job to support them.

    Explaining the situation

Sylvia felt desperate. As she put it, “There’s nowhere we can go. All the doors are closed for us. We’re living on air right now…we’re just living on air.”

When Angela heard the story, she knew she and Sylvia had something in common. “I kind of stopped what I was doing when I heard her mention that she was a single mom of triplets. I could hear the urgency in her voice,” she recalled. She understood how difficult it could be to raise multiples as a single parent.

    Angela has faced difficulties, too

Angela’s life hasn’t always been easy either. After serving in the military, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She’s now been fighting the disease for 20 years.

Sympathizing with another veteran and mom

Angela said, “I’ve had hard times in the past. I know what it’s like to be there. I’m at a point that I’m able to help someone. And I was moved to do that for Sylvia.”

    Sending a gift of hope

Angela knew that a little money could go a long way for Sylvia and her family. So, she sent them $300 of her money. She wanted them to know they had a support system, even if it was from a stranger.

    A huge help

As expected, Sylvia was grateful. She stated, “I hope I can meet her one day and say thank you.” The money undoubtedly helped the family survive until they receive their unemployment payments.

    Even more generosity

Other people were touched by Angela and Sylvia’s story. So, they too sent money to Sylvia’s family. In all, they received $910. That makes a significant difference.
